COURSE DESCRIPTION
As per Local Law 52 of 2005, this course is required for workers using supported scaffolds on construction sites in New York City. During this 4-hour course, students will focus on OSHA and New York City Department of Buildings (DOB) policies, procedures and standards as well as general safety and health principles. This course covers the basic elements of supported scaffold safety and introduces students to the nature of supported scaffold hazards. This course emphasizes the role of the scaffold user in accident prevention, which includes scaffold inspections, recognizing hazards, and responding to emergencies. This course is designed for a diverse population of professions who use supported scaffolds in NYC, such as construction workers, safety inspectors, safety managers, engineers and architects. Upon successful completion of the course, participants will receive 4-Hour Supported Scaffold User Certificate picture ID card that will be valid for 4 years.

Training outcomes
Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to:
Identify main supported scaffold types and their essential components
Discuss common supported scaffold hazards based on statistical and historical data provided
Outline supported scaffold Federal Regulations and their sources
Develop skills necessary to integrate regulations when using supported scaffold systems on the jobsite
Relate learned procedures when visually inspecting supported scaffolds on construction sites
Assemble supported scaffolds in compliance with NYC Building Codes.
